Looking for a new role can bring up a lot of questions about timing, fit, and what happens behind the scenes. Below are answers to the most common questions we hear from candidates working with our team.

Who will I be working with? / Who’s behind TCA?

Our team is made up of former hospitality pros — chefs, GMs, HR leaders, and operators — who channel their extensive experience into recruiting.

We didn’t hire recruiters and teach them hospitality. We hired hospitality professionals and taught them how to recruit. That’s what makes our approach different: We speak your language because we’ve lived it.

What geographic areas do you service?

We recruit from coast to coast in both major metros and smaller markets.We handle international searches, too.

How do I apply for a role through TCA?

Start by completing our intake form. We’ll set up an intake call so we can learn more about your background, and from there, you’ll have a dedicated recruiter in your corner who recommends opportunities tailored to your experience and skill set.

Will TCA help me prepare for interviews?

Absolutely! We’ll make sure you feel confident going in by walking you through what to expect one-on-one, and helping you refine any materials you might need, like sample tasting menus or project outlines.

How long does it typically take to get placed in a role?

It depends on the role, location, and timing. Some placements move quickly, especially when there’s an immediate need, while others take more time to ensure the right fit. In many cases, candidates are introduced to opportunities shortly after connecting with us, but the full process can vary depending on interviews, availability, and decision timelines.

Do I need to be actively job searching to work with a recruiter?

Not at all! Many of the professionals we work with aren’t actively applying to jobs. We often connect with chefs and hospitality leaders who are open to the right opportunity but not actively looking. Some of the strongest placements happen when timing and fit align naturally.

What types of roles do you place more frequently?

We focus on hospitality leadership and specialized roles across restaurants, hotels, resorts, and private dining environments. This includes executive chefs, sous chefs, pastry chefs, restaurant general managers, food and beverage directors, and other key operational roles. We also support placements in private chef and luxury hospitality settings.

How will you share my information with employers?

We only share your information with your permission. Before submitting your profile, we’ll walk you through the role, the company, and why we think it could be a strong fit. You’ll always have the opportunity to opt in before anything is shared.

What makes a candidate stand out to your clients?

Experience matters, but consistency, leadership, and communication tend to stand out the most. Clients are often looking for professionals who can operate under pressure, lead teams effectively, and contribute to a stable, well-run operation. Oftentimes, how you’ve worked in past environments carries as much weight as where you’ve worked.

Do you work with candidates nationwide or only in certain markets?

We work with candidates nationwide and support placements across the United States. Many of our roles involve relocation or new market opportunities, and we’ll always discuss location, timing, and expectations early in the process.

Can you help me if I’m transitioning to a new type of role or concept?

Absolutely, we regularly work with candidates making transitions, whether that’s moving into leadership, changing concepts, or shifting into private or corporate roles. In our experience, the transition is less about starting over and more about positioning your experience in the right way for the next step.

How often will I hear from a recruiter during my search?

Communication depends on timing and active opportunities, but we aim to stay responsive and transparent throughout the process. You’ll typically hear from us when there are relevant roles, updates, or next steps. If things are quieter, it usually means we’re waiting for the right opportunity rather than pushing something that isn’t a fit.
